I'm up in Perthshire, Scotland and looking for some hardwood to store and season for firewood. It's not proving easy but would appreciate any suggestions. This forum appears to be largely based down South but if I have to pay the extra to get it here so be it...

scot - if you have your tickets - tis worth checking out any local estates - as 9/10 times they have some small coops that need thinning and are more hassle than they are worth when it comes to paying a regular contractor to do it - worht asking and then they get the job done and you get the wood. a 75 -25 split is a good one assuming you split all the logs - and 60-40 if you do not.

Don't understand this. 'Larch can't go for firewood........' then 'Clean larch is THE softwood firewood'. I burn a bit of larch and it is pretty good, so I don't understand the first comment.

Am I being thick?

PR Larch! Means Phytopthera Ramorum Diseased. You missed the PR off the bit you quoted!

Hi all

We are new to the forum and we are just creating a showcase listing on the firewood directory but having slight problems, Steve Bullman has advised us he will look into this later today for us.

We are currently importing kiln dried hardwood we have a large surplus of small plastic bags of the same at a good price to the trade if it is of any interest.

I was on an estate farm yesterday in Hereford and the manager told me that some standing beach on the estate had just sold for £57 a ton !!

So £80/£90 roadside?
