I once had a dumper with a cordwood cradle replacing the skip. it worked well but its a long way up to pile it , i'm too feeble for that kind of thing now.

Amongst other extraction methods, I've used both small 2wd and larger dumpers in the past... both are ok but hand-balling material on can be a ball-ache. Is the wood in pole length or shortwood?

 

I would approach these guys for a demo, I spoke to them at Cirencester last year and they seemed pretty keen to travel about and show their machine off.

Hi guys, thought I would give you an up date. Thanks for all your advice and have gone with 3.5ton dumper, getting the wood up that high was not easy and had a brown trouser moment when I hit a covered up hole with nearly flipped the dumper but made light work so far should be finished by tomorrw. Last thing, regret not getting the hire company deliver the dumper to the site as took me nearly 45 mins to drive it 4 miles out of town.

It would of been handy, had to have somebody (wifey) to shout to me where to go, but she only told me when I was about to hit something.

I use my dumper to bring wood down from my field when i fell some trees up there, just stand up whilst your going along you should be able to see whats going on.

 

Eagle plant are a good company to, we always use them for hiring stuff.

I managed to do the standing up thing intil i got a bit optimistic then couldn't see over the top. Yes I use eagle plant alot, got all my saws of them and got 3.5 dumper for £40 for day and a half (plus fuel), I think they are able to get climbing kit aswell but I prefere to use Radmoor and tucker in exeter.
