you are right high scale loler is good only if inspector sensible. Although one part of the loler test on krabs that tries to lock gate open is ****. The DMM ultra o crabs fails this after as little as 6 months use but in real world climbing as you let the gate spring back it never sticks open.

When I did my loler course I was not taught the unrealistic technique I've seen some guys use, so again possibly interpretation. Even though it's not my responsibility last night whilst loler'ing a kit I used graphite powder to free up 2 biners it only takes a minute.

And again having said that DMM biners are crap and I no longer use them personally as I am to lazy to maintain them. Rock Exoctica and Petzl tri locks do not gum up so quickly.

yep dmm krab seem to fail loler even if well lubricated as is easy to force gate to stay stuck open

That's the problem, it was drummed into me not to force the gate to stick open, you have to be realistic, I know they have poor gates as long as they click shut from just in front of the nose then I am happy. I choose not use to use them as a personal preference.

We are going far of topic now.

Well just bought myself a new Cinch . Its a diamond of a tool for a work positioning strop . The old one lasted 3 years so why not . Also bought a Petzl Grillion , what for well a friend rates them highly and the money was there so again why not .

keeping on topic , just bought a couple cinchs! just in case they become hard to get.

It would be a shame if it is being taken out of production, it was better than an Art positioner. Seen some pics of the European Tree climbing comps, few climbers sporting the Cinch in that, so must of made it past their kit inspectors.

love my cinch. Just gone back on my lanyard, I was using it for rock climbing in the summer. and yes! the dmm biners are poop in dirty conditions. Rock and petzl mainly now :)

Big shame if the Cinch is being stopped. Amazing piece of kit and very versatile. Certainly the best lanyard adjuster/device ive ever used. Luckily i have two and one of ems pretty new so hopefully will see me through til something similar comes out.
