Hi All,

 

I was gifted a Sachs Dolmar 143 with a 28" bar today by a friend. He's owned it for a number of years, worked in Forestry for a short time and has been gathering dust since.

 

Anyone know anything about these saws? The only information I have found out so far is that it is 95cc!! Seems in good order, although I think I will send it to Spud for a once over before I try to use it.

 

Hoping it will be good for running an Alaskan saw mill and dealing with anything that the 560xp won't!

nice saw, matt parts are getting hard to find now ive been after a chainbrake assembly for my 133 for 12mnths now cheers shavey

Don't rip it to bits tho; if it aint broke don't fix it.

 

I would pressure & vacuum test it to ensure the rubber parts and crank seals are OK, clean and rebuild the carb, check the fuel line, breathers and filters, general clean up then run it up, tach it and make sure it is oiling.

 

Sounds about right to me:thumbup:

Would not pulling gaskets apart be a risk given they'd be a headache to replace? Bit like a car that's not had an oil change in 100,000 miles but runs sweet as a nut; give it and o&f change and it's knackered?

The carb kits are probably still readily available and I keep a good range of gasket paper to make gaskets that are EOL or difficult to source:thumbup::thumbup:

 

TBH I think Matt just wants to have a backup saw that is in good fettle and reliable rather than working on a wing and a prayer:lol:

 

The maintenance I do is sensible maintenance to make sure the saw works OK and for the minimum of cost:thumbup:

The carb kits are listed on eBay USA so hopefully we can get one.

 

It would be great to have a saw with a large bar on as a back-up, probably only come out once a month plus a very occasional bit of milling, but good to know it's there if I need it.

 

Overall it looks in good order, the Bar looks as though it's done very little work, it has a spare chain too, pretty good for a freebie! Will see if I can work out how to post a pic!
