We are just in the middle of reducing some weeping willows and thought I would have a go at foot locking I have a foot ascender also but can't help but feel that foot locking is better just wondered what you guys use and why . I feel the benefits for me is that it seems to advance better and also when I am done there is nothing on my foot :)

pantin and knee bungee footloop ascender thing

Is that for both feet bungee on one plain pantin on other? For ascent I use an srt system that utilises both legs, once in the tree I footlock short ascents as I find using a pantin only not as comfortable.

Hi Marc. Yea pantin on one foot. Short footloop to croll at knee height to elastic over the shoulder to drag the croll up on the other foot. Both legs sit stand or alternating legs :) Keeps the toother ascenders below the climbing system and not tethered to me for life support opps

I use either a hand ascender with footloop and pantin combo for long old ascents. but once I'm in the tree i stick to just my foot ascender/scaffold of the crown. I like this combo cos it's like using a ladder to get up there and all the strain is on the legs

Iv never had the chance to try the rope rocket system and I'm getting on good with mine so I will wait until I find someone with it to try it out.
