MS390 - Fitting new Rim Sprocket

I've bought a new Windsor rim sprocket for my Stihl MS390 to replace the worn spur sprocket.

 

The Stihl manual says: "Fit rim sprocket with the cavities facing outwards".

 

All the photos of rim-sprockets, including Stihl's own website, appear to show the solid edge outwards:

Does it matter which way?

Fit it like the spur sprocket looked, the actual rim doesn't matter which way round it's fitted

Far from all rims have those cavities, and it doesn't seem to matter much, if at all.....

 

Anyway, if in doubt, do as the manual says!
