MS390 - Fitting new Rim Sprocket

I've bought a new Windsor rim sprocket for my Stihl MS390 to replace the worn spur sprocket.

The Stihl manual says: "Fit rim sprocket with the cavities facing outwards".

All the photos of rim-sprockets, including Stihl's own website, appear to show the solid edge outwards:

STIHL chain sprockets | STIHL | Stihl, Viking, chain saws, brushcutters, hedge trimmers, clearing saws, high-pressure cleaners, lawn mowers, trimmers

Does it matter which way?
