I have just spent 2 years on it at Moreton Morrel College, Warwickshire and wrote 130,000 words for my portfolio. I took the equivelent of 1 working day a week to write up the learning outcomes. The independent research project was tricky but chose the application of Ginkgo trees as a street tree species adapted to climate change as the subject. My tutor has just applied to ABC for my diploma so awaiting an external verifier to ok the portfolio. I am just wondering if anyone else has completed this Herculian portfolio or whether I will get diploma No. 1? If I can help with sending you samples of my work as a learning aid just ask.

It's reassuring that someone has managed to compete it, as it is getting overwhelming already. I think 14 learners have just been submitted for external moderation, that's from 4 different venues and probably out of somewhere near forty that started it.:confused1:

One of the learners at our centre came once and quit. I think I'm five weeks in and three weeks behind already. All I'd say to anyone contemplating it, apart from don't, is to not underestimate the time requirements - which are immense. A second year student I spoke to said his normal study time was 2-3 hrs a night and all weekend, every weekend.

6 of us signed up on year 1. One dropped out after a year. 4 lads have done virtually no work so I am the only one who has completed the whole portfolio. To really do your portfolio justice you need to spend 8-10 hrs a week at writing up reports and learning outcomes. Stick with it lads and stay committed. After a few month you get used to the workload and after completion you feel totally bored as you have nothing to write anymore. I think I might take up a pottery course Ha Ha!
