Anyone know the brief history of the 010av?

 

also why are some red and some white??

I think the earlier models were orange, but I stand to be corrected.....

Havent seen any orange...ill take a look...just confused with this red and white varieties.. :-)

I bought an 011 brand new in 1988 and that was all white. They must have changed from orange to white between 1983 & 1988 :-D

It's part of the Stihl 1120 series

i think the colour change is down to different engines, I asked a similar question to this guy re: the 011's - the other big milesones for this series being points to electronic and no brake to chain brake

 

here's mine i've had since new 30 odd years - 1 set of carb dias, a few chains, air filters, and a set of oil pump gaskets - never let me down

Orange = points

White = electronic

 

On the oranges, quickstop chainbrakes were optional, whites were non optional, you got it as standard
