Just out of interest to the domestic guys out there..... If you were to cut a tree next to a power line would you charge more and deem it more dangerous? Or charge the same rate as if it wernt there?

The power should be off if cuttin next to lines. You should not be cutting next to live lines.

Ok, so if it's dead would you charge more at all? I'm just interested in regards to wages that's all?

I wouldn't charge more to cut next to lines if powers off, I would charge on what the job is regardless of wires as if there of there ain't an issue.

Exactly. Why charge more for a non-hazard? Next thing you'll have your guys demanding more money for domestic driveways in case they get run over! :laugh1:

The threads kind of gone the wrong way, it wasn't how to cut next to a power line but if you would charge more as it's more dangerous but as you guys don't cut near them it's kind of answered that! A short thread!

But if you do it by the book its not "more dangerous", the power should be off.

We do cut near them but we do it with the power off, as others have said there can be a bit of a faff getting a shutdown and you might have to work to an appointed time so a little more expense for that perhaps.
