what are these lil suckers - will they kill the tree- what do i need to evict them ??

Spring Hill is nice country. The problem with Laurel Oaks other than being a dirty tree is that their life expectancy is 60 to 70 years. If you google Laurel Oak Trees and insect problems you will find a nice write up by Doctor Ed Gilman and Denis Watson from UF.

You may have many of your questions answered there. Personally I would prefer a Live Oak and far enough away from my house to avoid future issues. Take care.
