Used to sell them for debarking logs. Came via Lumbermate before the Logosol tie up. Were't CE marked then, not sure what the situation is now. As for the price of £600 somebody is taking the**** big time. They used to be under£200

hmmmm interesting but not sure in its set up. Looks like you have to modify the bar to attach the device.

My wish list contains a Harricane, although mods do have to be made it seems more versatile.

Goodpig, there was a recent thread on here about the harricane and a link to a purchase of one etc...or the person in the know.

Its a device that someone who knows someone who knows someone that can get one kinda thing

Cheers abercarver, I'll have a look for that. Might be a tall order since I know nobody in this game.

Overheard someone at this years English open say " gratuitous use of the power gauge" about the back of the winning carving by a Japanese fella, which was a kind of mer-horse. It was awesome, and a very cool effect. Like waves or flames or summat. I think now, seeing the effect, I've seen it used on other stuff for a fur texture( big bears and the like)

I tend to sand everything smooth, need to learn some techniques for fur, feathers, etc. anything but flat. That's why I want one, but £600,hmmm!

Goodpig, not far down the topics is harricane, that should tell you a fair bit, plus i searched youtube.

Its surprising what effects you can produce from just a carving bar too :-)

next step is going for texture goodpig. flat sanding is step 1, now learn some texture effects like fur etc. try different ways of holding the saw so teh flat of teh bar is against the wood. stroke downwards and then mirror it on the other side and you start creating a fur-turf. from there its just play and practice :)
