Always has open fires. Like you say, sparky wood is best avoided, keep the lum swept and don't forget to put the guard in front before you go out or to bed. Other than that enjoy, I always prefer an open fire to a stove.

Hello there, a good short pile rug in front of the fire surround is a must, we have a cast iron ornate fire guard which has a mesh backing to stop any embers spitting out. The rug just prevents the carpet or wood floor from getting singed. Easier to replace than a carpet.

same get a rug, thats can be replaced for £30 -40

haha ive got my own technique using a 3120 :lol: rug sounds a good idea though :thumbup1:
