Tad jealous are we

No, I forgot to put a smilie at the end :laugh1: I chopped 5 bags the other day with my favourite hatchet, sat on a stool down the garden, they will probably last us all winter. :thumbup1: I'm only a back yard firewood cutter but I had to sign on here to see the pictures.

The bags should be orange, not green. Everybody knows that and they are called sticks not kindling. Where are we, Alabama ?

Never realised kindling had to be in orange bags! Is it a health and safety thing like orange ballistics which are all the rage! I'm sticking with green as there the strongest bags I've ever seen and I like green! Sticks, never kindling, been know as kindling since my old man showed me how to chop it 35years ago!

For me it's all about presentation and quality of product not just profit.

I worked evenings and weekends at a woodyard when I was at school and we used to chop sticks by hand. They went into a tin bath and we got threepence a bathful. They were bundled by the yard owner and sold on the round Friday and Saturday along with bagged logs. We used to fetch coke wagon sides from Staveley Works and telegraph poles from Sheffield telecomms yard and at weekends and school holidays when he did some felling I used to climb trees and tie the rope on to pull them with the old Commer van. This was 48 years ago and the bloke I worked for still does a bit on the pallets, he must be 84 now.

We do strong monofilament bags of kiln dried pine. Neatly packed well filled bags for £1.80 ea + vat but we have been so over run with orders we are going to struggle to get enough timber. We currently have orders and wood till end of October. If we get in front and have the wood I will post up with whats available. Bags are 40x50 and weigh around 4kg. You dont want to sell too big a bag as they will take longer to come back and most people think £5 max for a bag. Better to supply smaller and do a deal for 3 bags.
