Stihl chainsaw help

I have a STIHL 038AV and im trying to find out the power output. Also i would like to find out what the longest bar it will take? Can anybody help???

61cc engine and 20" bar according to the manual

hi its a 66.8cc engine with a power output of 3.3kw

you can put a a bigger bar on if you drop the chain size

check with your stihl dealer they have a bar comparision chart

038AV = 61cc

038Super = 67cc

038Magnum = 72cc

 

i personally wouldnt run more than an 18" bar on an AV, or 20" on a super/mag. but if you dont care much for cutting speed, stick a few more inches on em, they'll pull it

Er, cc's are not the same as power output - that's B&Q language! Horsepower / kW or torque is, thus the above is the only thread with the answer i.e 3.3kW which translates to 4.4hp. That's 4.4hp in chainsaw terms however is not directly comparable with the hp of a car for instance. In old terminology, 12 horsepower was equivilent to 60 brake horse power, but I could go on forever... Sorry!
