No fuel getting to carb???

Hello all,

I've just bought a petrol log splitter and can't get the 6.5hp engine to start it doesn't look like its seen a lot of work and can get it to fire buy putting a little petrol in the carb.

The float cup fills up just doesn't get into the carb from there I'm guessing so

Just wondered if any1 has any ideas on what the next step I could try before I whip the carb off.

Sounds like a blocked jet, turn the fuel tap off, remove fuel bowl and up inside the tube on carb is a flat head screw, carefull its brass so will break easy if your not carefull. Unscrew this and give it a clean, shouldn't need to pull carb off for this.

Be carefull, whilst some carbs do have a brass jet which can be screwed out as GTR says, others such as the ones on some Briggs engines do not.

 

The best solution is to remove the carb, its not difficult and clean it with carb cleaner and compressed air, removing any screwed in jets which can easily be seen with the carb on the bench.

 

Better still, find someone with an Ultrasonic cleaner to give it a good deep clean.

Can you give a clue as to what engine is fitted?

Hi guys thank you for your advice its a Honda engine and it was the jet inside the float cup it had obviously varnished up removed jet cleaned it replaced started first pull.
