easy to carve oak logs?

Keep chain sharp and you will be OK. Wood is wood to me. Sorry to all the purists. The drying and cracking, splitting etc. just makes my work more original. Well that's what I keep telling myself.

 

Listen to others on here that is my advice, i'm just a professional amateur.:sneaky2:

Iv found that Oak (Similar to others) Is a hard wood but great to carve. Its tougher to carve but not stringy like willow. So like others say keep the chain sharp.

Iv also found oak tends to split more vigorously than others but can add to the effect of the piece instead of looking at it as damaged. The wood its self has great grain when done. Smoothing can be difficult due to wood strength
