Tree's and the weather

Visited my mate this afternoon, it was like autumn in his estate, all the leaves falling off the trees out front. Hasn't rained in 16 days here, and has been the longest sustained hot spell i can remember with 25-30 degrees heat everyday for the last 2 weeks and not a drop pf rain.

Given this is a new(ish) estate, chances are that there is probably about a foot of top soil and a 3 feet of compacted rubble under that where these trees have been planted. Wonder if a few buckets of water would help?

 

btw - are these young lime tree's (forgive my ignorance)?

Trees often shed a few leaves during prolonged dry spells to save themselves the trouble of keeping them flushed. This looks a bit more terminal to me. Probably wise to wait and see, and yes a couple of buckets of water a day might well help.

I'd say those are Limes.

 

We have the same leaf drop happening up here on 20m high mature limes. Water can only help.
