Hi all, what are the disadvantages and advatages of these, as in safety, reliability etc. Im using the prussock, but would like to hear what it has over the vt, and the same with the vt.

thanks

I would say a prusik is safer than a vt as with every body thrust you slide the knot up and are locked off every time you ascend whereas a vt or any sort hitch used with a self tending pulley has the potential for you to pull lots of slack into the system if you don't tend it regularly but a vt (I think) is a much more efficient way of climbing

If only use the vt for a side strop. Don't feel safe climbing on it, has a tendency to slip. Distel is better than the vt.

How many wraps and twists do you use on a vt? I use 4w an 3t and doesn't slip for me also depends on your climbing line an cord choice, some work better than others
