50:1 - stihl oil in non stihl equipment?

You guys are learning......well some of you are:001_rolleyes: Stubby is correct, the oil is the defining part and not the machine, the older tools say 25:1 as the oil of the day was ....well...older and not as good as the oils that are around now.

 

To put it in to context, I can run a hot ported saw at 15,000 rpm at 50:1 - I think your blower may be OK with the same ratio:lol::thumbup:

 

That's what I wanted to hear to be honest Spud - I know you said it somewhere before, just didn't trust my memory - thank you. And the thing is, using Stihl oil at that dilution works out cheaper than most of the relative crap I've been using.

No you would not if its high quality oil . Husqvarna or Stihl that say 50 : 1 . I use red line racing oil at the mo but that is expensive .

 

Good :biggrin: I was just looking at the 5 liter on the auction site, around £26 delivered. Is that good value?

 

It seems it as I've seen the single shots at nearly £20 for 10x100ml
