Standing timber on eBay

Buying standing timber for firewood isn't that outlandish, I'd have thought the question is whether this pays or not.

 

In this case, I think the poor access would make them pretty much worthless.

 

Another example of a little knowledge in the hands of an idiot...:001_rolleyes:. he's probably expecting £8-9 /hft or something..

I would buy them if they were closer. £4 a tonne to the landowner, but he'd have to accept me tracking an excavator round, a burn pit, and an 8 wheeler coming accros the field.

The only other worry is that area is all sand, so the oak will be full of ring shake. Only good for firewood really.

Sand? loamy soil on chalk is nearer the mark. I think that you where looking at leaves on the lawn.
