poison ivy and blue moon are not ce marked yet, if you are an employed climber you legaly cant climb on either, but if you are self employed you can, this is because they carry the american ancy marking(not sure if ancy is spelled right!!) there has been alot going on with the legalities of these two ropes in the past few weeks, i think btrac are having to pull the poison ivy from their catalog. these lines cannot be used in a uk and i climbing comp as of last week! so some of us will have to buy new lines including me.

hope that helps

In my opinion that is completely rediculous! If the rope can be used in USA then why the hell hasn't it got a CE mark for use in Europe? Its obviously just some legal crap or something to do with payments and fees for certificates or some other bollocks! The rope is manufactured as ARBORIST ROPE and some claim it is the best in the world, and many world champion climbers are using it, so thats good enough for me. WHY IS IT NOT CE MARKED THEN?????

PETER - CHEERS FOR THE LINK!

Which one, the big yellow chipper link or the dodgy thai massage one?! :001_tongue:

How many world champion climbers use Poison Ivy? I'm not sure I can think of any off the top of my head.....

The CE issue with PI has been ongoing for several years, so there must be a good reason. Lots of other Yale products are CE marked.

You will have trouble buying a non CE marked rope in the EU, I would just go direct to a USA supplier if there was something I really really wanted!

BTW, the ANSI standard for climbing lines exceeds 22kN.......

I have seen that German dude with the dreadlocks advertising it in the States last year saying he uses it. Everytime i saw poison ivy advertised over there it was saying that champions are using it, and listed em but can't remember all their names! But he was definately on the adverts!

Sherrill say "1ST 2ND RD Bernd Straser, Ronny Epple, Dan Kraus. Poison Ivy & Hi-vy (11.7mm) No other rope can lay claim to being chosen by the top contenders in the 2006....."
