Iv'e got a length of English oak which I feel is to good for firewood. Measures approx 18" diameter and 59" length. Is it worth anything or could it be of use to someone? The wood is straight and solid all the way through.

Looks like a reasonable stick, if a little small. If you can find someone nearby who wants it I would say its worth £40-50. Would be a shame to log it. I would take it but your a little too far away. You really need to post this in the milling forum so the right people see it. You May get a taker. Agg221 isn't far from u.

It does have a large band of sap wood so I'm sure popular thinking would agree, but I like milling little sticks like that.

 

You're the expert, it's just that if you had to bring some kind of lorry/hiab or tractor thing any distance to pick up one piece like that it'd cost more in diesel. I know what they would say here!
