Hoping someone on here can let me know wether it is worth buy the above chainsaw. I am on a very limited budget and have been offered this chainsaw for £50.

I know it looks like an old model, but are they ok chainsaws.

Thanks

Steve

I am taking it that it is like this saw

And not the Husqvarna 365 or the jonsered version of it??

IMO, I would try to pull £150 together and buy something a little newer. Old saws can be good but this old and you are looking for trouble and a headache finding spares!

Let us know what you will be doing with it (yeah we know...cutting wood:001_rolleyes:) type of work and you should get some good advice!

I buy in cords for my firewood, so its to cut that. I have had an offer to remove some fallen down trees to help out a game keeper and I currently have an electric chainsaw so need a petrol one for the fallen down trees.

I would love to buy new but at £150 thats nearly 2 tons of oak cords at the rate yhat i buy them in and I dont think I will be getting 2 tons from the fallen down trees.

Its a red one, have an image of it on my computer just not sure how to get it onto here.

Thanks

How about buying a reasonable saw, doing the work, giving it a clean and then reselling it?

I know what £50 can buy - usually problems if you don't know your way round a saw!

You should be able to get a reasonable MS180 or a Husky 136/141 for £100 - probably a better option unless you know this saw has some life left in it and the sprocket, chain and bar are in decent condition!

Spud,

Thanks for the replies. I have looked online and haven't for any Stihl or Husky for thst kind of price. I will have another look tomorrow.

Need to make a decision as would have to collect the saw from Bridgewater and I live near Exeter, but am in Bristol for work tomorrow.

Cheers
