Lirodendron tulipifera?

 

As to autumn colour, have you had a dry summer?

 

Not sure what dry weather would do? Maybe. The only trigger I've ever remarked on has been early frosts, but I can't remember whether there were early frosts when I took that pic.

 

Have you seen a tulip tree before? :001_tongue:

Sure I heard something years ago about autumn colour being better in dry conditions. Maybe its an old wives tale.

 

Clearly you have never seen a Liquidambar, otherwise you would know it has alternate leaves as opposed to the pic which has opposite leaves..... :001_tt2:

 

 

Anyway, since it clearly isnt a tulip tree, i'm going with some kind of Acer.

Didn't look opposite to me. To be fair, the Liquidamber looks like this:
