Help needed on oak price

Hi,

I've got some good lengths of oak butts some straighter than others. Most around 3 meters long and 60cm in diameter all road side.

Per saw log I work it out as:

4.6 cubic meters

161 cubic ft

124 hoppus ft

How much should I expect per log, a guy who owns a saw mill says he will give me £150-200 per log collected, would this be good price?

Should I ask him to give me a price based on hoppus ft?:confused1:

3m is 10' in length.

If the mid-diameter is 60cm, that's 2', so a radius of 1'.

Area is pi * radius squared, so 3.14 square feet.

Volume is 31 cubic feet.

Alternatively for Hoppus feet:

Mid-girth is pi * diameter, so 75"

Mid-quarter girth is 19"

Mid-quarter girth squared is 361 square ins

/144 = 2.5 square ft

* length = 25 Hoppus feet.

They're a bit on the small side for ideal, and if some aren't that straight I would be expecting around £3/Hoppus, i.e. around £75/log.

If you are being offered £6/Hoppus, which it sounds like, I would jump at it.
