Nice sun flare on that top photo.

 

So you evidently caught Stout Grove after one of it's big limbs or stems broke out. The look on the ground will change a lot again into autumn and spring as the dry foliage disintegrates and the ferns push back up through the debris again. Only takes like two to three years and seems as if nothing happened.

 

I found a favorite group of trunks in Stout Grove where I photography people almost every visit now. I take an LED light panel down in there to bump the light on their face just a hint. Same spot where I photographed the red model when she's shown holding my extra camera.

 

The man below is in that cluster of trunks, as is the boy.
