You will need a 6" liner for the Burley Hollywell . As explained in great detail above The stove will work more efficiently with a liner and if the liner is a bit of a rattle fit , as yours may be ( square flue round liner ) get some vermiculite beads and fill in the gaps between flue and liner . If you do as per book and heat the flue first ( door on first latch air slide open ) for 10 - 15 mins then close door but leave air slide fully open to heat stove body . When stove is up to temp close air slide to the point that suits your chimney draw and you should keep the liner pretty clean .

This must be tar from your old burner which the new one, which runs so much hotter, is burning out. If you let some hot burns go in warmer weather the chimney should clean out quite well.
