Checking Timberwolf bearings?

How do you check if they need replacement?

What are the consequences of not replacing dodgy bearings straight away? What else will I break? Lol

We changed all bearings on our tw 125 . Only really noticed that the flywheel had a bit of movement in it when we where doing a routine blade change . It was then we discovered that the excess play in the bearings was to much . In Layman's Terms our flywheel could be rocked side to side using only minimal hand strength .

Thanks. My TW150 has started making some funky noises, like a rumbling I guess. I was expecting to find some play in the flywheel, but I can't feel any by hand, is it safe to assume I can keep using it until I feel some play?

 

I did check the fins while I was at it, a couple of small chunks missing so they're already on the shopping list for when the bearings get done.

It's the chunks out of the fins cansing the rumble; unbalancing the wheel and mullering your bearings! change the fins AND the bearings at the same time. Doing mine Saturday for exactly the same reason.

Ah ok! Must say the chunks don't look very fresh and it only just started making a noise. Only small chunks say the size of a 5p but you must be right throwing it out of balance.

My tw 125 has a few chunks missing from the fins and it runs smooth . The missing bits are a lot bigger than 5p lol . We're talking 2 x size of a £2 pound coin . If in doubt even it out lol .

Is it an easy enough job to change the bearings ?

rumbling bearings.....they are breaking up... takes out the nose cone of the rotor eventually

I've got an engineer mate who is coming up, we've done it before to good effect. I would not attempt it on my own however.
