Hi i am thinking of buying a small processor current options are a hakki oh27, or a palax combi , at first glance the palax appears to be much more robust, but it is a fair bit more expensive,

I would appreciate any insight, or experience others may have.

Icurrently use an old sawbench on a tractor, but i freely admit that it is a slow and dangerous animal, the economy option is a hakki eagle or similiar, but obviously that is consideraby slower.

The machine is mainly to produce logs for own and family use,but i wonder if doing some contract work, (owner operated), would help to offset the cost,

Sorry this is a bit long winded but any thoughts appreciated

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Some processors are more robust than others, the general view here is that the likes of hakki are lighter weight and not as strong as Posch/Palax,Dalen.

However if you are using it yourself and not putting big volumes through it then a hakki should be ok. I would not hold out to much hope on contracting, bloody hard work without a loader and feed rack especially processing arb waste.

If its for your own use why not just hire some one in. There's a guy on ebay reckons he can do 4-5 tons an hour with a Japa. Be a darn site cheaper than buying one.
