How many types of fungi can you find on 1 tree?

Will the Xylaria just be hollow and crumble? I know the Daldinia has the concentric rings but do they always persist or can they become hollow when desiccated?

xylaria, daldinias and all of these types can become hollow with age and predation. the Xylaria is a white flesh, snaps like a carrot, daldinia an entirely different animal, which by the way tends to be far browner on beech.

there are around 7-9 species of daldinia.

Tony I have to be honest I did stick my finger through it this morning when I took the photo, I can't be sure but I don't think there was any white, but there also wasn't any concentric rings. I didn't take any more photos and won't be going back for a while, at the minute I think I'm still heading more toward Daldinia but cheers for the info.
