What to use as chip box sides?

If you're using aluminium on steel, paint the steel first - primer and topcoats. The corrosion problem is due to electrical contact between the steel and the aluminium so the paint keeps them separate. If using aluminium, I'd check the data sheet for the grade - I would want something that says 5xxx (where the xxx are three other numbers) for the best combination of strength and corrosion resistance for something like this.

 

GRP is probably a better bet though.

That's some great info thank you :), will definitely get all the steel painted befor fitting the aluminium. Have ordered the sheets now and at a good price :). Getting them from the fad shop my brother works at, 4 2x1m sheets @ 1.5mm comes to £137 and after cutting to fit will only weigh approx 22-25kg :)
