The original white tree in the citadel is a direct sapling of the first white tree of Númenor & brought back by Isildur himself you know.

 

The current descendant (discovered by Aragorn on the slopes of Mindolluin) is tbh looking a wee bit ropey, but with a good dollop of rosaceus mulch, it will I'm sure, happily fracture retrench and spring back in to lustrous health & vigour

Ah but in the film it's the same tree, Aragorn doesn't find the sapling, he would have suggested it was felled as it was dead (dormant)

Clearly, your commemorative trees are probably well cared for David!

 

I've always thought it sad that people plant a tree to remember someone or to celebrate something and they unwittingly pick a malformed specimen and plant it poorly.

We tend not to cable or brace much in this country any more, due to our wonderful health and safety and liability stupidity, people prefer to remove or prune heavily to avoid a claim
