Prunus spinosa? Someone correct me if necessary but I've experienced it spreading out from hedges into fields etc. Maybe not such a problem in a garden that has its grass cut regular.

 

Blackthorn will end up twenty feet wide if you let it.

planted the hedge blackthorn hawthorn. dogwood field rose maple, when i planted it was last saturday in that rain never been so soaked. i finished planting them but was starting to not feel very well cold getting in.

walked in pulled off my wet stuff nad in shower for a long time just to warm up
