There are lots of sellers on ebay and web who sell a variety of fungi on dowels or other culture medium. Easy to cultivate and innoculate. Lots of varieties of pleurotus and shitake especially. Give it a go and report back.

but better would be polyporus squamosus and a stump to feed on, say 2ft hi ring barked at ground level (IMO)

 

Cant find anyone selling Polyporus online, suppose ill have to go on a hunt for a sample and try to grow it myself.
