I've got both saws and tbh they are equally as good tho I find myself picking up the husqy most often but think theres a thing in my head about the stihl being hardly used so may aswell use the more battered saw. If he husqy is that old it maybe on a zama carb rather than the newer walbro and think they had the odd minor issue, its certainly better to use the walbro if Ur thinking of doing a 372 conversion. Ppl seem to knock the ms390 but Its a good saw, its just a pain in the arse to work on if it needs major engine work but minor work is just as easy as the husqy.

Yes it can be done, but if its a zama carb you may find you need to upgrade to a walbro wd-12b. Sometimes there can be a few idle and initial "first rev" issues with some zamas but not all.

Its around that's sort of era they changed up to the warlbro upgrade so you may be lucky and get a walbro on it anyway.
