I think it's each to there own, I prefer my wire core but money has not aloud recently, aspecially now I have been robed for £5000 worth of kit! And 4x4! so my little home made strop is doing me just dandy for a sticky moment in life and earning me £ :biggrin:

If you hit wire core with a saw at full revs your going through, especially if all your weight is on it. I've given all mine away. I used them all the time when chogging down but just don't see the point if they're no safer than a normal rope. The rope is way lighter and more flexible so what's the point in the wire core unless you're flip lining up a big barrel covered in ivy or something.

ive seen one withstand a 066 and believe me if was normal rope the guy would have been in real trouble. Steel core was cut through half way but holded.
