Work Base Issues

Hello all. Some of Arbtalk folks know us well and some have seen the Norwegian issue posted on here. (which still continues with the Norwegian courts now)

I planned to sell the work base in Derbyshire which is idea for those in this tree trade and have planning permission for a large 60'L x 40'W x 18'H building with much space for products and 14,000 vehicles passing each week.

HOWEVER some interested people had been given the run around from the local council and now it has approached us intending to purchase to use as a "Travellers" site as none in the whole of the council area and a legal case going on because of that. Decisions were made without informing us and made public in the press which caused us much hassle.

Council could do a CPO and we then have no choice in the process.

SENSIBLE ADVICE please!! :001_rolleyes:

we have a cpo at the minute that will cut the farm down the middle. it will force us to close a business so we quite lucky as we got that for bargaining. but in your case it slightly harder as you are selling any way which makes it harder

What's the asking price and what would the cpo valuation be?

If the two are close, take the money (for your benefit) drench the place in land mines (for everyone else's!) and move on with your life. No agents' fees, no collapsing chain to worry about. It's commendable to worry about the future use of the land and try to prevent it becoming this most heinous of things, but don't bog yourself down with it or feel guilty, it's neither your fault nor your problem.

The land will be there long after whichever scumbags take up residence have rotted down gone to hades.... Taking their caravans, and the bleeding heart liberal sympathisers who insist on encouraging them, down with them. :001_smile:

Having had an illegal gypsy camp built on the land next door to our smallholding a few years ago, i cannot begin to express what a complete nightmare it was! I have since worked on council run sites and found the people to be exactly the same. they have no care for others ,authority and certainly the environment. for the sake of those who live near or around the site do not sell unless your hand is forced by the council please do not let money be the deciding factor!
