Could someone explain what class 1/2 means with regards splicing, also I have been watching the video in one of the posts of how to splice, does anyone have one for the whipping?

I am getting the urge to try it

It's just a classification by fibre type. Generally the very high breaking strain fancy fibres aren't suitable for conventional splicing techniques so you use a different method.

It's to do with the material that the ropes are made from.

Go to the Samson Ropes site and at the top of each set of instructions you'll find the rope types that a particular splice will suit.
