MS341 chain brake help

Hi chaps.

I got myself an MS341 a couple of years ago. It's had some use but nothing like on a daily basis.

However- Since I bought it I thought the chain brake was a bit hard to engage but never worried too much about it. Been using it the last two days and its gotten loads worse - It's now so stiff, the back of my hand is blue. I'm having to use the heel of my palm to put it on which is far from safe...

Anyone had this happen?

Is it just gunked up?

Anything I can do?

Thanks!

Clean it!

Will have a closer look in the light tmrw. Will feel like a plum if it does just need a clean.

The drive sprocket and chain brake regularly get a brush out when I'm sharpening the chain. None of my other, older saws have done this. Chain brakes have got easier to engage if anything...

Look into the brake band area. Had a few saws like this and the band was actually broken on the end causing it to hold onto the springs and handle.

If you remove the drum and plastics around it it will expose the brake mechanism and you will see if its broken or not.
