ms650 help needed

hi there sorry for the help me post straight away

newbie on here just joined,names andy from nuneaton,warks love outdoors,cutting,climbing,joinery,hunting

right to the experianced,from owning huskys im queit used to having a saw that spews its chain lube whilst sat,but just aquired a ms650 2008 from a freind nice clean saw runs strong,but found its spat oil over the van coming from behind the plate that covers the chain adjuster,obviously without surgery i cant say what it is,and to be honest im not that good at surgery either,just looking to see if you lads had seen this before and have an idea what it could be

Not sure what plate you are talking about but worth checking the oiling hole in the bar is OK - it is easy to swap it round and not unblock the oiling hole.

 

If the oil is coming from between the inner cover and the crankcase then it is possibly a holed oiler rubber pipe.

Yep agree with spud. Forst check the oil hole on bar is clear. They do hold oil on them and seep out a bit after use but not much.

 

There is a rubber cylinder shape part behind the thin metal plating and behind the plastic sourounding the clutch area. If this has perished at some point it will leak. Also worth checking the pump aswell.

 

Strip the bar and cover off then run the saw without bar and chain on, then stop it and see if or how much oil comes out and where from.

cheers lads it is doing it when sat and yes it seems to be coming from behind the plate that sitts over the chain adjuster how do i get that of lads do you know please,,little things like this eat away at me i wont sleep

oh the bar is brand new and the chain is unused as of yet,,

Haha. Ok remove bar and chain. Looking at the plate remove the small flat headed screw. This removes the plate.

 

Remove clutch drum.

 

Remove clutch.

 

There are I think three hex screws around the drum. Remove these and it exposes the chain break components.

If it has a small screw in the middle of it, take this out and just lever it off - if there is no screw......just lever it off:001_rolleyes:

Yes there is a small screw. Flat head screw. It should be there anyway according to the manual.

mmmm thinking buxtons,service,scary been told two and a half weeks and £100
