Red Cedarwood Oil (Thuja Plicata)

Hello all.

My name Is Sam and I am doing some company research into Red Cedar also known as Thuja Plicata .

The research is based on the oil product the tree / hedge produces and which is contained within the plant.

I have been all over the place to source where to obtain the raw material.

Raw material as being the foliage, branch or possibly small lumber so to extract the oils required.

After lots of speaking with Forestry Commissions, Trades of tree surgeons and large nurseries, one reply from someone suggested this site as somewhere to ask.

So in short I'm looking for red Cedarwood waste. Leaves / Twigs / Branch Ect.

As much of the stuff i can get hold of.

Hope someone out there could help me out here.

Sam Howlett.

Chips would be easier to handle. As of now it is research to see how viable a business can be. Seams the States has tonnes of the stuff and the tree is classed as invasive.

i would bl looking to gather 100 - 300 tonnes aver a 6 month period as a starting point.

What i was really hoping for is where someone fells or trims a complete site and get a bulk load of it.

Possibly move the plant to the site and extract on site then the waste product can be put back to the forest floor to act as a fertilizer. On a small scale it's not a viable business.

I am on the South Coast
