applanatum, any signs as to why the butress became dysfunctional?

Compaction, vehicle damage?

.

It is in Windsor Great Park on the edge of a small wood. Compaction wouldn't be an issue however there is a stream about 3mtrs away so possible waterlogging?....or even deer damage many years ago

Laetiporus sulphureus on Oak Bollard.

Poking out of drying medulary ray.

Second year sighting.

Pity the poor H F-W inspired gastro forager, who thinks they've spotted a gastronomic delight, only to get a distasteful stench of wet, shagy, long haired, Canine scent marking spray upon their first bite :sneaky2:

Note the gall wasp ?

Wish I had a budget to cover an D SLR Sean.

Most of my photos are on a Sony DSC-H50, decent digital.

9mega pix & 15x dig zoom.

Don't always get the shot I want though

Here's an emerging G. resinaceum on a Red Oak from earlier today, first two today, second two from '06
