fruiting here between the butresses of this Hornbeam.

Central leader has already become dysfunctional and been removed.

 

Also fruiting from the rhs, out of view.

Not really 100% sure on this one, but can only find Skeletocutis amorpha as a possible.

 

Shot & description in Jordans, looks close.

 

Though other resource shots look fairly different.

& pore tubes may be a little too long.

So, whilst climbing a wee hill near Henley yesterday, i came across this monster Ash.

Quite possibly one of the largest and oldest maidens I think I've ever seen.

Pictures do it no justice whatsoever. You'll just have to take my word on it.

 

Anyhoos, even though I was just about to help inflate a Balloon, I couldn't help but take a quick gander.

 

Then came across the biggest brackets I reckon I've ever seen as well. Individuals over a meter across.

Mad thing is, I had no time to really get down and have a proper look.

Thought they were Perennioporia but may have been Rigidoporous.

 

I will just have to go back

argh ha! this might be elm specific, I have this somewhere in a book, let me go see, I know it looks like Pluerotus!

It could also be pluerotus dryinus, david, did it feel a bit leathery rather than fragile like pleurotus ostreatus/corno
