Hi all, making my first post here, i must say i really enjoyed looking at the site this past few weeks. I have a barn full of really dry pine logs and a local merchant is taking 200 45x70 nets off me every week. Hes giving me £2 and selling them for £3 or 4 for a tenner. His main business is coal deliveries but the customers always want a few logs as well. With an artic load costing £1100 now do you think £2 per net is enough? Or should i be asking himto up the price by 50p? I could understand him for not wanting to as the local filling stations are selling them for £3 though the supermarkets are about 4 quid. Was also thinking of getting a couple of school lads on Saturdays and hit the large housing estates in the city and try selling them at 3 for a tenner, that would be alot more profitable i think. Any comments greatly appreciated, thanks:thumbup:

Welcome to the forum. If you are paying £1100 quid for an artic load of timber, work out your cost from there, cost of labour and fuel to cut and split, bagging costs and delvery, add on your profit and that's how much you should sell them for. Up here a net of hardwood is around 3.75-4 I'm a garage.

Wholesale Price for such nets vary £1.85 - 2.50 depending on location and actual net size, if you will ask for too high price, supplier might try to get wood from elsewhere. See who else does wholesale and see what price they are offering. Work out your reasonable cost of supply And.....compare....
