Sounds like your in a similar position to what I was a year or so ago.

I had a little husky 142e as an entry saw which was perfect for learning on, nice and light, small and easy to service and play with.

Decided I needed/wanted something with a bit more punch so, after a bit of advice from seasoned users, I decided to go for a 346xp.

I was very fortunate to find a nearly new saw on ebay which I picked up for £205, not only the saw but the guy included 5ltr chain oil & petrol, files and an axe, what a bargain !!!. The difference in quality and productivity that the 346 supplies is well worth the trade up and I would definitely recommend it.
