An interesting tree i worked on last week!

Wonderful pictures of a beautiful tree! Nature is spectacular...and as i climb on blue tounge it is nice to see how abstract it looks alongside the flowers of that tree:cool:

I've worked on those things in Costa Rica amn Argentina. We nick named then cucumber trees because of the feel of spiking and sawing the wood. You can also get the tops to bend over like fishing rods if you rig off them.

 

The story I heard was that these trees developed spines to guard themselves from giant sloths. They sometimes called spiny cedar because the wood is durable and used to make boats

 

A similar but much nastier tree is a sand box. They are bigger with tougher spines, but on a sandbox if you knock the spines of the sap squirts out and can blind you if it gets in your eyes.

a side note- get a longer stiffer teither for your RW-this will make it work a lot better and safer

How did the blue tongue fair on those thorns Ed ? .

 

There was no damage to the rope. As the rope brushed along some of the branches, the thorns tended to rub off.
