Need to see pictures really, including both top and bottom and both sides. If there is little heartwood, firewood prices, if it's clean, straight with lots of heartwood and no shake, £30 a hoppus or more. It's a very wide range.

Certainly interesting - not too much star shake, though a bit gnarly. Good proportion of heart wood though, which makes it more valuable. £300-400 would be my offer. Possibly more, though not exceeding £500.

I find the world of milling a weird and wonderfull place - dont get me wrong I love timber when milled.

But this is the sort of thing I would probably cut up for firewood with all those large limb wounds.

I would charge to remove it rather than give money for it.

 

Whenever we get something special I can never find anyone interested in purchasing from us. You can barely give it away.

I buy quite a bit of walnut and £30 is really top dollar in the round for very good butts and very few logs are even worth the effort of planking. Something like this I would offer around £200 on.
