Type C trousers on a budget

My girlfriend just bought herself a Ryobi chainsaw that runs at 23.8 m/s, could anyone tell me if these SIP ones give enough protection for that speed?

I'm confused by the Gustharts description of "Type C class 1 24m/s" as I thought Class 1 only protected up to 20 m/s...

Dont get hung up on chain speeds. Only try and match chain speed to trousers if employer requires it.

Class 1s are cheaper to buy and much nicer to wear...especially when it gets warm. Heat exhaustion leading to fatigue is a greater risk than the difference in chain speed as you get sloppy and they do not replace good technique. IMO.

Class 1s are all that has been available until only recently (approx 5 yrs) and do not offer guaranteed protection as so many factors affect it, ie age and condition...clean trousers are better than sweaty ones. Also where and at what angle the cut is.

Spend your hard earned on the best fitting, lightest class 1s instead
