Oops didnt convert cm2 to m2 correctly.

reworking my figures (on average figures for plots)

plot size 0.01Ha (circle rdius of 5.6m)

total basal area = 8607cm2 = 8.6m2

plot vol = 8.6x8.34 =71.72m3

Ha vol = 71.72 / 0.01 = 7172 m3

Does that look better?

Thanks for your help

Yes this is 0.1ha as near as makes no difference

total basal area = 8607cm2 = 8.6m2

I worked this above, I make it 0.862

see my last post there are 10,000 cm2 to a m2

Sorry I'll get there in the end

OK reworking of reworking -

But also to note is that the literature i have states that the 5.6 m plot is 0.01ha not 0.1 is this correct?

plot size 0.01Ha (circle rdius of 5.6m)

total basal area = 8607cm2 /10,000 = 0.86m2

plot vol = 0.86x8.34 =7.17m3

Ha vol = 7.17 / 0.01 = 717 m3

Yes my mistake there, its =Pi()*5.6^2, paste that in excel to get m2 and then divide by 10000 to get to ha.

That's a fair crop, better than what was planted on Kilvey Hill in 69.
