Thermal imaging for decay detection.

I'm currently doing a presentation on a research paper I found at college which goes into detail about using a thermal imaging camera to see if a tree is suffering from internal decay, when no external sides are visible.

Has anyone tried this out or does anyone know of it?

Would anyone be interested in trying it out?

The Research paper is in the Arboricultural Journal 2008, Vol. 30.

It is written by Alessandra Catena and Giorgio Catena.

i'm on the course in feb. Looks interesting and reputedly the next big thing. I like the idea of non invasive testing.Seems to make sense to me looking at how well the tree is rather than how sick.

Can't get the idea of kirlian photography out of my head though - tree aura's for arborists! Maybe i'll be wearing crepe soles next.

seriously though i'll let you know what i learn.
